Marianthi Lainas

Having spent most of my life living a stone’s throw from the coast, much of my work is informed by the dynamic places at the far edges of the land, cycles of ebb and flow and the transience of the littoral landscape. Over the past 12 months I have increasingly used experimental camera-less techniques alongside traditional photographic processes as a way of interpreting the landscape.

Recent work has involved working with light sensitive papers out at the strandline, or bringing the outside into my studio and layering glass with found botanical material. I exhibit regularly in solo and group shows across the UK, and am represented by galleries in London, Scotland and NW England.
